EAA 800 Meeting Minutes

The EAA Chapter meeting at Mack Mesa Airport,1048 R Road, Mack, Colorado, 81525 was called to order at 10:20 am this date by President Jim Austin

Jim Austin brought up the idea of watching the EAA videos at the meeting. Additional discussion about EAA lacking knowledge about what our chapter has been doing. Jim will bring them up on all that goes on.

Update on pursuing scholarship for William McGlochlin. Randy Owen gave a report that the chapter needs to be qualified in order to proceed with the EAA ray foundation scholarship program. An application had been submitted for William before the Jan 31 deadline and the chances are looking very good. Applications should be reviewed in the next 2 weeks. This chapter seems to be very qualified.

Bill Marvil gave a report on the possibility of the HAWK program being featured on a news program. His friend, Butch McCain, has a daughter who works for a local TV news station who may be interested in doing a time slot of the HAWK program. There was discussion about being organized and having people who can speak on camera about the program. Bill will talk to the young lady to see if she is interested in doing a piece on the HAWKS and will report back. It was reported that Sterling would like to have it on a warmer month with many young people present.

Ken Hurt brought up the idea of making a video of all that goes on at HAWK to distribute to the area high school programs.

Michelle Hobbs introduced the Idea of the kids taking video on their cell phones and then they could help put the video together presenting it As (HAWK Talk). She also talked about getting the tool boxes put together for riveting practice and selling some items to create room in the hanger.

Jim Austin said he will call Lenard Lentz about the GJT airport tour.

Ken Hurt gave the treasurer report: Business Account: $2,500.00, Dividend$.20, Checking Account $2805.06

Bruce Erickson gave an update on the possibility of a motor glider program here. Mihai Martin said that someone in the Delta EAA is looking into a motor-glider program or club. Bruce said he will check into that. Bruce also noted that he had applied for a grant from the Ray Foundation for a motor glider this week for the HAWKs program here.

Jim said that the books and material on the table were free for the taking.

Various EAA projects in progress were discussed and the value of Tech councilors were duly noted as being very helpful during the building process.
