Vice President Bryan Miller opened the meeting at 10:30 am. Bryan reported he received his Instrument Rating through the CMU Aviation program. Congratulations Bryan!
Treasurer’s Report: Ken Hurt reported $2,072.71 in checking, $25.01 in savings. Ken and Jeri brought boxes of beautiful peaches.
Minutes: of the July 15th meeting were read and approved, also Treasurer’s Report.
Guests: Dave Evans, the Blanck family of 4, and Bob Lovelace. Bob is donating his 1955 Beechcraft Bonanza and other equipment to HAWK Aviators, LLC!
Old Business: The Grand Junction Air Show is Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. We are in the planning stage for displaying the HAWK Cherokee, possibly in front of WestStar Aviation. Our Young Eagle Day is planned for the following Sat. on Oct. 7 th . Jerri Hurt needs to get the names of all ground personnel and pilots ASAP. Other events are: Monticello UT Young Eagle Day Sept. 16 th and White Sands NM Aviation Expo Oct. 5 th .
New Business: Braden Hobbs presented numerous slides of AirVenture 2017 and activities, such as: the Cherokee Display, the Cirrus Lunch, the Aviall Diner and concert, the night fireworks show in the rainstorm, Braden’s flight in Marvel’s new RV-12. There were numerous cheerful stories of the week. Shay Boe’s description of the Fisk Arrival CHAOS was particularly exciting. There were about 15,000 aircraft at Oshkosh this year. Eddie Clements brought copies of the AirVenture daily newspaper which featured the HAWK Aviators LLC story with pictures. Eddie reported that the full story will be in the February Sport Aviation magazine. Jay Scheevel talked of the airplane design of the (Leon) Davis DA-2 and Piper Cherokee history.
