EAA 800 Meeting Minutes
19 July 2014

The meeting was called to order by Pres. Syndi Jochums at 10:22 AM. About 20 members were present as well as two visitors: Harry Warr, a member of the Delta chapter, and former Denverite Steve Austin.

Minutes were unanimously approved as posted on our website. Financials were presented by Ken Hurt. We have $25.03 in checking and will have $1222.10 in checking after Monday’s deposit. The deposit will include $500 for the sale of the Avid fuselage by Eddie Clements. The financial report was approved after a motion by Al Gabelli and second by Lane Jochums.

Syndi asked for suggestions for programs. Visitor Harry Warr will present a program on applying fabric in August. Ken Ray knows an aviator who may be able to do a program and will try to secure him for our September meeting. The Div. of Wildlife pilot, Steve Waters from Montrose, is interested in doing a presentation but summer is his busiest time, so maybe can later in the fall.

Eddie Clements reported on Dakota Hawk progress and needs and also addressed the possible problems with insuring the Dakota Hawk and giving instruction in it. According to Eddie, we could give instruction, but not charge for it. Students can be charged for their fuel use, but none of the other costs. Also, Matt at Avemco says we could possibly insure through them, BUT we need to go through a flight school and/or instructors would have to obtain 10 hours in type while uninsured. The plane is now mounted on its forward gear. A list of parts still needed was circulated.

Sterling stood and expressed the chapter’s appreciation for the many hours of time and effort that Eddie, Kim, Ken, Pat, & Bill have put in with the Dakota Hawk project.

Syndi asked if we should secure the present N#. Lane J moved that we do, Al G. seconded it, the motion passed.

Syndi also suggested that we buy more T-shirts to have tie-dyed and screen printed since that was a good fund raiser. We can take some to Steamboat Springs. when we do the Young Eagles flights over Labor Day if the contact in Steamboat commits in time for us to get insurance.

We adjourned about 11:20 to brats, burgers and watermelon! Thanks Jeri & Ken Hurt!
