The meeting was called to order at 10:25AM by the President, Alfred Gabelli, in the EAA Hangar at Mack Mesa Airport.
Several guests were introduced:
The minutes from the February meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer reported that we have $25 in savings, $875.86 in checking and $342 in cash.
There were no Webmaster or Vice President reports.
There was to be a side meeting after the regular meeting adjourns for anyone interested in the City Council election impact on GJT.
Bill Marvel gave an update on their letter to the TSA. The bottom line was that nothing had happened yet even after congressional and AOPA contacts.
It was noted that GJT is not one of the 170 towered airports that may be closed because of lack of funding.
Syndi gave an update on YE's scheduled for April 20th. Pilots and ground crew are needed and encouraged to sign up now.
Bob Said from Chapter 1373 gave a short talk on having a combined Chapters 1373 and 800 meeting in the fall at Crawford. After some discussion, it was decided to plan for a joint meeting at Crawford on the 2nd Saturday in November. Our YE's day will be the third Saturday in September.
There was a discussion on Bill Marvel's proposal at the December Meeting to identify the highly motivated YE's that we fly and get them into an airplane building project and a path to learning to fly. Since costs are a big factor, it was suggested that a kitplane could be purchased and built by several Chapter members and that the YE's who are chosen could work on the airplane with the Chapter members. There will be more information about this emailed to Chapter members soon to see what kind of interest there is.
Ken Hurt gave a presentation on the different types of welding. He will give demonstrations at the May meeting at Lane & Syndi's.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 AM for lunch.
