The meeting was called to order at 10 AM in the EAA Hanger at Mack Mesa Airport by the President Lane Joakums.
The minutes from the December meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer reported that we have $1345 in our account plus some petty cash.
Several guests were introduced:
Steve Lindemann discussed the Young Eagles page on the website. It is a work in progress and will evolve as the Young Eagles paper work process becomes more automated.
EAA Calendars for 2012 were on sale at the meeting for $10.
Lane explained that Steve Kibler (Ralph Kibler's son) has a lot of aircraft grade metal for sale. There is a lot of steel tubing and aluminum sheet. It needs to be sold as a lot. If anyone is interested in a list of the materials and price, contact Lane.
Sterling discussed the present dismal situation at Walker Field including the Airport Authority, the City Council and the County Commission. There are meeting coming up this week. If anyone is interested in attending, contact Sterling or Lane.
It was suggested to make Ladd an honorary member of EAA Chapter 800. The motion was seconded and approved.
Lane discussed the sharing of member contact information between our Chapter and Chapter 1373 (Montrose) via the websites. The information on the web pages will be password protected and members need to "opt in" if they agree to share their information with other Chapter members. If you didn't "opt in" at the meeting and you'd like to have your contact information included on the web page, let Lane or Steve know.
If anyone is a EAA Technical Counselor or a Flight Advisor please let Lane know so we can list that information of our website.
Flying Young Eagles gets a Chapter credit towards sending a child to the EAA Air Academy. This is a good way to reduce the costs of tuition.
Syndi discussed some items being considered for the next Young Eagles Day in April.
The upcoming maintenance hanger for Monument aircraft to be built on the south side of the runway.
Lane announced that Norm McClintock has his RV-6 for sale. Contact Norm for more details.
Ladd discussed the Lear 35 mockup that is sitting in pieces at the airport entrance. The plan is to use it as a static display near the airport sign. Ladd also discussed the upcoming maintenance hanger for Monument aircraft to be built on the south side of the runway along with some more T hangers.
Sterling announced that he knows someone who is selling shares in a Cessna Skylark that has an O-360 engine. It is based at the CAF Hanger at GJT. Shares are selling for $8500 each.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 AM for lunch.
