The meeting was called to order at 10:30 AM in Dag's hanger by the Vice President, Don Coleman. The guest speaker, Randy Miller, from Mack Airport was announced. He would arrive later in his Stearman.
Sterling discussed a trip he had recently taken in a Cessna 182 to Northern Idaho. He flew over several National Parks and even saw Old Faithful erup from the air.
A discussion was held concerning airport access and the new badges required. Several EAA members have badges for the area of Dag's Hanger and all members must be within their "visual control" when on the ramp area around the hanger.
Norm Masters was introduced as a guest. He is an aviation historian.
The July meeting will be held on July 11, 2009 in conjunction with the Montrose Chapter. The meeting will be held at the Montrose Airport. Directions and Maps can be obtained from our website or the Montrose website (EAA1373.org). The speaker will be a man who was with Howard Hughes in the cockpit the only time the Spruce Goose was flown.
Randy Miller from Mack Airport arrived in his restored Stearman and gave an interesting talk on the history of the airplane and the restoration he accomplished. For more information about the airplane and Randy's company, go to "Vintagebiplane.com". After Randy's talk, he took us outside to see the airplane and answer questions.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 am for hot dogs and hamburgers.
