The meeting was called to order at 10:25 AM by the President, Jay Scheevel in Dag's Hanger. The minutes from the April meeting were read and approved.
The Treasurer reported that we had $1254.36 in the account minus the expenses for the May meeting.
Jay discussed the filing of Non Profit corporation forms for EAA 800 for the 2009 tax year.
Two guests were introduced:
The new TSA rules go in to effect on 1 June and will require that any one without a badge be escorted by a badge holder on the airport grounds. This will impact our monthly meetings that are held in Dag's hanger. We should still be able to hold the meetings there as long as a badge holder is present.
Several members discussed information they had obtained from various sources like EAA and AOPA with respect to the TSA rules. It is still not clear exactly what the impact is going to be.
Steve Lindemann summarized the Young Eagles Day that EAA 800 conducted on 18 April. Forty nine kids were flown by 6 pilots. Ten people helped out as ground crew. Steve mentioned developing some aviation-related activities for the kids while they are waiting to fly. In addition, local TV coverage should be considered to give this event some publicity as well as show what kinds of activities are going to be impacted by stricter airport access policies.
There is going to be a Fly-In at Cortez Airport on 29 May starting at 8 AM. A pancake breakfast is planned.
Jay received some EAA informational materials from EAA Headquarters including brochures, DVD's and Academy Course materials. It was suggested that these be available during Young Eagles Days and also display some at Colorado Flight Center and/or Civil Air Patrol.
Don Coleman gave a short description of his trip to Sun N Fun last month. Attendance was down and prices were up but the weather was great and lots of nice airplanes were on display.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:15 AM for hot dogs and hamburgers.
